Privacy policy

Maëlia is a multi-server player, not an ad network. We only store what makes the app work — nothing else. This page says exactly what, where, and how to delete it.
What we store
To keep your devices in sync, our backend stores the following data, tied to your device group:
- Device group identifier (UUID) — the link between your screens.
- Linked Apple or Google account (optional) — only if you enable backup, to restore your group.
- Profiles, pages, themes and PINs — your configuration, synced across devices.
- Watch history, watchlist and ratings — for resume playback and recommendations.
- Subscription status (free / Pro), via RevenueCat.
- Push notification token (APNs / FCM) — for cross-device resume and invitations.
What never leaves your device
Your credentials and tokens for media servers (Plex, Emby, Jellyfin, Kodi) and Trakt are stored only on your device, in the Keychain (Apple) or EncryptedSharedPreferences (Android). They never pass through our servers.
Zero ads, zero tracking
Maëlia contains no advertising, no ad SDKs and no tracking tools. We never sell or share your data for commercial purposes — with anyone.
Third-party services
Some features rely on third-party services, only when you use them. Each has its own privacy policy; we send them the bare minimum:
- TMDB — posters, synopses and metadata.
- Trakt (optional) — scrobbling, ratings and trends, if you connect your account.
- RevenueCat — Pro subscription management and purchase validation.
- Streaming Availability — “Where to watch” badges.
- TheIntroDB — intro/credits detection (skip intro), queried directly from your device.
Storage and security
Your data is hosted on Maëlia's own infrastructure and always travels over HTTPS. It is kept as long as your device group exists, then deleted.
Your rights (GDPR)
Legal basis: performance of the service you request (art. 6.1.b GDPR); the linked account and Trakt rely on your consent (art. 6.1.a). You can request access to your data, its rectification, or its complete and permanent deletion at any time.
